If you’re in Chicago during the second weekend in July, you won’t want to miss the Taste of Chicago, one of the biggest foodie festivals in the Midwest. Grant Park plays host to this grand food celebration in the middle of the summer heat, the perfect place to get your fill of iconic Chicago foods, like deep dish pizza, hot dogs, cinnamon rolls, and Eli’s cheesecake. Plan on spending the entire weekend sampling food and enjoying live music performances from touring national bands.
The Taste of Chicago is July 6 to July 10, 2016, at Grant Park. Events run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. You’ll get a chance to meet representatives and chefs from some of Chicago’s top restaurants and learn about their most popular dishes. This year’s lineup of concerts includes national and regional touring acts, including The Roots, Elle King, and Billy Idol.
Food trucks will be set up around the park, an easy way to sample appetizers, desserts, and snacks. This year’s event also includes a Celebrity Chef du Jour experience where you can enjoy a sit-down three-course meal in an air-conditioned dining pavilion. Taste of Chicago is free but chef demonstrations and concerts are ticketed events.
