Celebrating the Chinese New Year in Chicago.

Happy Chinese New Year! We've now entered the Year of the Rooster, and Chicago is celebrating in full form. The New Lunar Year began last Saturday, but there are parades and parties happening all throughout the city this weekend, just a stone's throw away from us here at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. Whether you're looking to get down with some dragons or enjoy a great meal, it's sure to be a New Year's celebration for the ages here in Chicago.

Who doesn't love a parade? For a couple of great celebrations in the streets in Chicago this weekend, check out the Lunar New Year's parades on Argyle Street on Saturday, and the Chinatown parade on Sunday. Both are sure to be spectacles for the ages, featuring dazzling costumes, music, and dance. Bring the whole family out and join in on the fun! The Chinatown parade begins at 1 p.m. on Wentworth and Cemark.

Once you've worked up a nice appetite after a weekend of parades, get ready to enjoy another favorite hallmark of the Lunar New Year - food! Head down to Phoenix Restaurant on Thursday, February 9th at 6 p.m. for a special dinner hosted by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce! Be sure to red to this affair and enjoy an eclectic menu of lobster stir-fry, braised ham hock, thousand island prawns, and much more.

Be sure to ask our wonderful staff here at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza for more recommendations to welcome in the Year of the Rooster, and have a happy Lunar New Year!
