The Irish have a long and proud history here in Chicago. What better day to celebrate this history than on St. Patrick's Day? This year we have a full weekend jammed packed with parades, festivities and fun. So grab you're finest green attire, keep an eye out for a four leafed clover, and come out for some St. Patrick's fun!
With St. Patrick's Day falling on a Friday, this year the annual Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade will occur the weekend before on March 11th. Kicking off at noon, follow the marching of bands, dancers, and the grand marshall of the parade, Martin J. Healy Jr., a first generation Irish American. Helping Mr. Healy along the way is this year's special guest, Rev. Monsignor Michael M. Boland!
The parade begins at Balbo and Columbus and then precedes north on Columbus. We are located just West of the parade route! If you're looking to get up front in the midst of the action, public transportation is strongly recommended. We're just a short train ride away on the Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, and Brown lines!
Although the parade begins at noon, the fun starts much earlier with the annual dyeing of the Chicago River! Dating back over 50 years, gallons of eco friendly green dye is poured into the river truing the water a majestic emerald green. Make sure to line up at 9am on the east end of Michigan Avenue!
