Celebrate at the Chicago Lunar New Year Parade in Chinatown
2019 is the Year of the Pig, and no place celebrates it like Chinatown. The neighborhood's annual Chicago Lunar New Year Parade goes all out with a lively celebration of culture, food, dancing, dragons, and music. Witness traditional lion dancers as they wow the crowds and see lavishly decorated floats. Listen to marching bands and be thrilled by the pop-pop-pop of fireworks. The whole neighborhood comes out for the party, which takes place this year on Sunday, February 10 starting at 1:00 p.m.
Where Is the Lunar New Year Parade in Chicago?
This vibrant procession travels through the heart of Chicago's Chinatown, starting around the intersection of Wentworth Avenue and 24th Street. It travels north up Wentworth to Cermak Road. Parking is extremely limited in the area, and we recommend ridesharing or taking public transportation. L stops Cermak-Chinatown and Cermak-McCormick Place are nearby. Chinatown is about 2.7 miles south of our downtown hotel, an award-winning oasis in River North - one of the trendiest neighborhoods in the city.
