The holiday season officially begins on Friday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. with the 105th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Millennium Park. What Happens at Chicago's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony?
Music will fill the air of Wrigley Square as revelers gather to watch the brilliant lights and holiday sounds. But the tree lighting is just the beginning!
- Chicago's tree is lit to a spectacular party in Millennium Park at Michigan and Randolph Avenue, featuring music, special guests, and actor Miguel Cervantes (Alexander Hamilton in Chicago's "Hamilton") as the emcee.
- McCormick Tribune Ice Rink opens earlier that day at noon, with skating through March 2019 and themed skate nights on Thursdays (weather permitting). Skating is free and rentals are $13-$15.
- Millennium Park Holiday Art Market opens for the weekend over November 16-18 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Find it in the heated tent on the Chase Promenade North. Shop for handmade crafts, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, fashion, and photography by local artists.
