Strolling at the Chicago River Walk
One of the best ways to enjoy the amazing views of Chicago’s architectural marvels and do some people watching is to head over to the Chicago Riverwalk on a sunny afternoon. The Riverwalk is open to the public year round and designed with wide walkways and seating areas for people to just relax and stroll through on any given day. You’ll also find a lineup of boat tour operators and water taxis that will take you across the water, and some charming waterside cafes and restaurants if you want a quick bite to eat or a hearty meal. The Chicago Riverwalk runs along Wacker Drive and the south bank of the Chicago River. Be sure to bring a camera to capture some of the building facades and photos of boats traveling down the water. This is also a great spot to wind down after a busy day or meet up with friends and fellow travelers for lunch and dinner. Cyrano’s Cafe & Wine Bar features an outside patio designed after Monet’s Gardens in France. It’s a popular brunch spot and you can pick up European-style eats for a picnic. Settle in at O’Brien’s for classic tavern food, including burgers and seafood options. Tiny Hatt is one of the newer additions to the Riverwalk, the perfect spot to enjoy specialty cocktails and Memphis-style BBQ. When you’re staying at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza River North, enjoy easy access to the Riverwalk and other area sites. Our convenient location puts you within easy reach of the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, and many of Chicago’s top restaurants and bars.
