The 18th Annual World Music Festival Chicago

Chicago is certainly a diverse city.  And with diversity comes an exchanging of perspectives, ideas, and of course culture.  Looking to share in this culture exchange with a little bit of music?  Well, how about a lot of music?  Because from September 9th through the 25th Chicago is holding the 18th annual World Music Festival!  This is an eleven day music festival, set at various venues throughout the city, featuring internationally renowned musical acts and the best thing about it all: it's free!  No purchases, and no tickets just show up and ready to rock out.

This year The City of Chicago has pulled out all the stops in assembling this jam-packed lineup of musicians.  Some of the highlights of the festival include: the father of Ethio-jazz Mulatu Astatke, Anda Union who resurrect disappearing magical Chinese music, the Bulgarian bagpipe assemble of Kaynak Pipers Band, the poet Dona Onete, and the Chilean folk music of Nano Stern.  This of course is just a sampling of the featured acts, the full line up, with supporting venues, can be found here

Don't want to rely on public transportation?  Would you prefer to drive?  Not a problem.  Even though the music is happening all around town you're in luck with Millennium Garages.  With locations all around the city you'll have plenty of options to choose from.  Best yet, Millennium offers an all day parking pass option for 35$ so you can get there, park, enjoy some tunes, and even stop for a bite to eat all stress free!
