Insta-Friendly Things to Do in Chicago: The Beach, An Immersive Art Installation
Escape to The Beach this winter at Chicago's Navy Pier and discover a wild, white ocean of one million plastic balls. Dubbed "The Beach Chicago," this immersive art installation is the brainchild of New York-based designers, Snarkitecture. You can experience The Beach this January 19 through February 3 at the historic Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier in Chicago.
What Is The Beach Chicago?
The Beach Chicago is a free public art installation that consists of a large, open ballroom filled with more than one million plastic balls that are recyclable and anti-microbial. It's an all-ages ball pit where you can "swim" in a sea of white spheres. Its purpose is to create the feeling of a day at the seashore, complete with lifeguard chairs, sun loungers, shade umbrellas, and beach signage. There will even be a "pier" that stretches over the ocean of white balls where beachgoers can stroll and see the installation from above.
